Furture Presidents...

During Writer's Workshop this week, we brainstormed ideas about what we would do if we were President of the United States.  Kinders had really great ideas like giving people a chance, making people help one another, treating everyone nicely, etc.

On Friday, we had a really fun Math magic assembly.  Mr. Augustine had a lot of really cool math tricks that kept all of the kinders on the edge of their seats!

100th Day of School

Can you believe it? We've been in school for 100 days already! To celebrate, kinders dressed up like they were 100 years old.  They were so stinkin' cute and their outfits cracked everyone up!

Check out all of my 100 year old friends:

We brainstormed things we would want 100 of and things we would NOT want 100 of...

Mason, Kendall, Dean, and Ella working hard at our 100th day hat center.  They had fun adding 100 stickers and dots to their hats.  When they were done, they practiced counting to 100 by 10's and 1's.

Mrs. Schlagle helping out at our "What can you do in 100 seconds?"  Mrs. Everwine, my P.M. partner shared this really great find with us.  Kinders had to estimate how many times they could do things like clap their hands, say the abc's, write their name, etc. in 100 seconds.  They were then timed doing it.  They got to see how close their estimates were.

More estimation fun...

Mrs. Ryer helping at our 100 years from now center.  Nicolas, Anna, Gabriella, Cayden, Nathan, and Lauren working hard on their self portriats 100 years from now.

Mrs. Ryer baked us a yummy 100th day treat!

My Sweet Little Valentines

I was lucky enough to share my love with all 16 of my valentines today!

Our room parents, Mrs. Ryer and Mrs. Schlagle, planned an awesome valentines party for us (like always).  Mrs. Ryer, Mrs. Graziano, Mrs. Kueny, and Mrs. Thurston came in to help out with our fun centers.

Mrs. Graziano helped our kinders make fancy valentine necklaces out of heart cut outs and straws.

Mrs. Kueny working at our valentine bingo center.

Mrs. Thurston helping at our candy heart center.  Kinders had to see how many hearts they could pick up using their tongs in one minute.  Then they had to see how high they could stack their hearts.

Our awesome parents set up a sundae bar as our sweet valentines treat.  Kinders got to pick their flavor ice cream and add some yummy toppings.  Thank you Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Kueny, Mrs. Semon, Mrs. Schlagle, Mrs. Marple, Mrs. Bassett, Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Ryer for our delicious sundaes!

Birthdays, Buddies, and Blending

Happy 6th birthday, Nathan!

Thank you for the yummy birthday treat Mrs. Bassett :)

We met with our 4th grade buddies this week to exchange valentines.  We LOVE every second we get to spend with our buddies.

We made "bee mine" valentines for our buddies.  Ms. Lyons, will you be mine? :)

Lauren and Gabby loving their buddy time!

Leah, Kendall, and Ella with their buddies.

Alexis and Anna with their buddies.

We also were super excited to see Ms. Lyon's daughter, Kylee, in the P.A.G.E.S play we got to go see. We learned all about friendship and honesty.  Kylee did an AWESOME job! Ms. Lyon's was one proud mommy!!!

In Fundations, we started working on tapping out sounds in words and then blending them all together.  I found a really cute idea on Pinterest for blending books and I thought this would be perfect to use in our classroom and really easy to make and use at home for extra practice.

We practiced using the book during our small group time, and kinders can't wait to use them in centers.

Sight Word Snowballs

We had a snowball fight...to practice our sight words!  We had so much fun and we are getting really great at reading our sight words :)

Ready, aim, FIRE!!!

Look how close our two teams were!

What great sight readers we are becoming!  Kinders absolutely LOVED this. We will definitely be doing this again :)
